Building a Professional Reputation: Attorneys as Experts and Business Leaders

Throughout my career in P.R. I’ve worked with many attorneys to help them build their awareness for brands and their law practices. Our news portal publishes news about lawyers and has a special section for law. The news portal also offers attorneys access to build an Online Press Kit.  I enjoy working with attorneys because I have respect for their time constraints (billable hours) and know how to effectively use content marketing and expert positioning to build awareness for their reputation. I wrote this article especially for lawyers!!

“The robots are coming…the robots are coming!”

If Paul Revere were riding now with the purpose of warning America against a clear and present danger, he might well proclaim, “The robots are coming!”  For indeed they are, and quickly.  Until now, though technology has reduced jobs at an ever-increasing rate, we’ve been able to create new ones just as fast, though many of these have been low-wage service positions and others, low-security “gig economy” activity.

Being POTUS is a Real Job

Being President of the United States (POTUS) is a job. A great weight of responsibility accompanies the grandeur of this office. Historically, presidents choose their words very carefully because there are major ramifications to everything they say.  The reaction to presidential words ranges from hypersensitive to hysterical.  The words of the POTUS have enormous power and consequences—enough to seize up financial markets and rattle the hearts of trigger-happy dictators.

Preparing for Re-Entry the Native Way

“We are all related to or know somebody in prison,” says Gabe Galanda, attorney and Native American activist. This is especially likely to be true for Native Americans, who are significantly over-represented in the prison system in several states, according to the Prison Policy Initiative. The Department of Justice reports that Native Americans are “under jurisdiction of the criminal justice system” at over twice the per capita rate of whites.

A Case for Pro Se Litigation: Jiffy Lube

An interesting and time consuming rendition of what is involved when an individual brings a lawsuit pro se—without retaining an attorney.

GOOD LAWYERS

A few weeks ago, we sent an email to our list, titled Know a Good Lawyer?  We received some amazing responses and some terrible responses too. It was astonishing how many P.R. people couldn’t write three good sentences that answered the question: Why do you think your nominee is a good lawyer? One reader said there was no such thing as a good lawyer! Without explanation, and without apology, some lawyers nominated themselves. Some lawyers didn’t have a link to their bios, and many failed to read the instructions! Imagine how they review complex contract negotiations. Ha! We did get some good submissions and found that there are indeed lawyers out there who are making the world a good place to live!  I hope you enjoy this round-up. Happy Law Day!
