Startups and Digital Strategy

Startups are all the rage in the tech business press. Silicon Valley and Silicon Alley write endless columns about the Next Big Thing.  Entrepreneurs are celebrated, written about, and there’s both an HBO and an Amazon series about them.  VCs (Venture Capitalists) look for the next Unicorn. What’s that? It’s a startup they invest in early, raise a few million up to $10 or $20, maybe even $30 million, that will then grow to Billion Dollar value.  Yes, that was Billion with a B.  Maybe to get there, in VC money-speak, it will take a few more rounds, an A, BC, even a D round, raising many millions, tens of millions, to get there.  Usually this requires stellar success, revenues and growth. 

But not always.


From Wyoming: Country Burgers!

Traveling two hours south of Jackson Hole, Wyoming, the speed limit is 80 and it doesn’t feel right unless you’re cruising at 90 mph. Occasionally, traffic slows to let a herd of antelope safely cross the road. Going South on US 191 through rural Wyoming, a makeshift road sign Café gets attention because there isn’t anything else out here. The Café billboard points the way to a long white trailer-style building named Country Burgers.

Following an international career in Persia and Vienna, Austria, Monir Zandghoreishi  (pronounced Mo-Neer  Zang-or-eh-shee) moved to Seattle in 1987. As a highly respected and talented couture designer, she specialized in creating gowns for women for their weddings gala events. Later, she became Dean of Fashion for for the International Academy of Design and Technology (Academy - Seattle), which was later renamed Sanford- Brown College. Monir Zandghoreishi’s innate flair for fashion, coupled with bold pragmatism, has always driven her to conquer new frontiers.  As of late, she has undertaken a new after- school program with Step-It-Up Camp designed to teach young people to sew.
