Innovative Cancer Treatment Gets A Boost from SUBWAY® Sandwich Shops

By Ryan Hostetler

Immunotherapy is a game-changing approach to cancer treatment, which reprograms a child’s own immune system to fight cancer. Clinical trials and immunotherapy research are currently underway at Seattle Children’s Hospital and Seattle Children’s Research Institute, funded by Strong Against Cancer, a nationwide fundraising initiative to cure childhood cancer using immunotherapy.

“Immunotherapy is the next great advancement in cancer treatment,” said Doug Picha, Seattle Children’s Hospital and Research Foundation President. “This new immunotherapy treatment for childhood cancer is producing stunning results in young patients and providing hope for families all over the world.”

Using cellular engineering, the treatment being pioneered at Seattle, Washington’s Children’s Hospital enable the body’s own immune system to heal itself—without the harsh and often lifelong side effects of chemotherapy and radiation.

The Seattle Children’s Hospital is partnering with SUBWAY® sandwich shops in Western Washington Strong to raise awareness of and support for the Strong Against Cancer initiative. Promoting awareness of this revolutionary immunotherapy treatment for childhood cancer.

Throughout the month of May, SUBWAY® sandwich shop customers are being urged to show their support for childhood cancer patients by donating to Strong Against Cancer’s research and treatment efforts at any participating SUBWAY® sandwich shop location. One hundred percent of the donations received will be awarded to Strong Against Cancer to aid in continuing immunotherapy cancer treatments for kids.

“Local SUBWAY® sandwich shops are proud to support the Strong Against Cancer initiative this year as an effort to assist these brave children and their families during a difficult time of their lives,” said David Jones, SUBWAY® Advertising Board Chairman. “The work aligns with Subway’s ongoing commitment to providing support to charitable organizations and creating a stronger community relationship within local communities.”
