Fairness in Education

Over 54 million kids in the United States are heading back to school in the United States this month. Many of us whose school memories include the screech of chalk on blackboards, the irresistible smell of freshly mimeographed worksheets, and reciting the Pledge of Allegiance  – now look back with nostalgia on those formative years of promise and progress. We probably didn’t realize it then, but that final line of the Pledge – “with liberty and justice for all” – didn’t automatically mean access to quality K-12 education nationwide. And it still doesn’t.
