Biography
Monir Zandghoreishi (pronounced Mo-Neer Zang-or-eh-shee) has long been the mentor behind many promising young designers. Aside from having been the Program Chair for Fashion and Fashion Merchandising at IADT-Seattle, she is an experienced and highly respect couture designer in her own right. For many years, she has felt satisfaction and reward by being a champion for young designers who are long on talent but short on funding. Now she has embarked on a new venture with Step-it-up Camp teaching young people the fundamentals of sewing so they can be contenders in the new "Gig Economy." Never one to rest on her laurels, Monir is expanding her new sewing program to teach people of all ages the magic they can create with a sewing machine. Among her many accomplishments, she is the founder of Project Red Dress, an annual design competition benefitting the American Heart Association. Monir is also a former Regional Director of Fashion Group International (FGI-Seattle).
